Carrying that momentum through to New York, Raducanu won the US Open<\/a> as a qualifier, becoming the first player in history to do so.<\/p>\n Now ranked 46th on the WTA Tour<\/a>, Raducanu has made real strides in 2025 and looks well-positioned to begin challenging for a second major before too long.<\/p>\n She\u2019ll need to be focused if she wants to do so, something Raducanu<\/a> is more than aware of, as she explains why she doesn\u2019t have too many friends on tour.<\/p>\n Emma Raducanu finds it hard to compete against players she is friends with<\/p>\n During her press conference at the 2025 Washington Open<\/a>, Raducanu opened up about her relationship with other players.<\/p>\n \u201cI think when we\u2019re on the tour, it\u2019s very difficult to really open up with other players that you\u2019re competing against,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cI think for me, I have a few friends on the tour, but it does add another dimension when you play them.<\/p>\n \u201cI have really good friends at home that I can trust and speak to, but other than that, you know, I don\u2019t think that, yeah, this is \u2014 for me, I just find it harder to compete against a person I\u2019m friends with.\u201d<\/p>\n Raducanu has unsurprisingly struck up good relationships with several British players over the years, including Katie Boulter<\/a>, whom she partnered with at Queen\u2019s earlier in the year.<\/p>\n Nicknamed \u2018Boultercanu\u2019, the pair won their opening match, but fell to the number one seeds in the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n Raducanu returned to the doubles court in Washington, alongside former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina<\/a>.<\/p>\n Making a winning start together, Raducanu and Rybakina (\u2018ER squared\u2019), won their first-round match against Tereza Mihalikova and Olivia Nicholls on Monday.<\/p>\n Raducanu is also scheduled to play mixed doubles alongside Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> at the US Open later this year, as she may well have more \u2018friends\u2019 on tour than she thinks.<\/p>\n She hasn\u2019t, however, made friends with her second-round singles opponent in Washington yet, as she admits they\u2019ve never spoken to one another.<\/p>\n Emma Raducanu reveals she\u2019s never spoken to Naomi Osaka<\/p>\n When asked if she\u2019d ever spoken to her second-round opponent Naomi Osaka<\/a>, Raducanu shook her head.<\/p>\n The pair have yet to meet on the WTA Tour as Raducanu now highlights the differences between her and Osaka\u2019s road to the top.<\/p>\n![\"Emma](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-1339733274-1024x683.jpg\")
