When the Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll last month, they announced that General Manager Joe Schoen will lead the search for Daboll\u2019s replacement. <\/p>\n

Daboll and Schoen were both hired in 2022, which made the decision to fire one and not the other a major topic of conversation at Schoen\u2019s bye week press conference<\/a> on Tuesday. Schoen said \u201cmy hand\u2019s in it just like Brian\u2019s is\u201d in regard to the team\u2019s dismal record since their arrival, but that it was an ownership decision and that he will \u201ccontrol what I can control.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schoen said that he thinks he\u2019s better at the job today than he was when he joined the team and acknowledged that \u201cthe chances of me batting a thousand\u201d in terms of his moves is long gone. He said that he\u2019s learned from what\u2019s gone wrong and is \u201cnot going to make the same mistake twice\u201d while noting the presence of players like Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, Brian Burns, Andrew Thomas and others as signs that they\u2019ve gotten some things right as well. <\/p>\n

He cited those things as basis for his belief that he can take the team where it wants to go in the future. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s pieces in place,\u201d Schoen said. \u201cI do have confidence in our ability and our process to find the next coach to lead the organization. I do believe in that process. I know we\u2019re going to get it right.\u201d<\/p>\n
