The final vote count showed Dahlquist earning 62% of the vote with 7,238 total votes, compared to his opponent, Greg Cates, who received 38% of the vote, with 4,424 votes. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a new day, Pocatello. It\u2019s a bright, new day,\u201d Dahlquist said at his election party at Portneuf Valley Brewing immediately following the release of the results.<\/p>\n<p>Dahlquist also garnered the most votes in the Nov. 4 general election, with 40% of the vote, compared to Cates\u2019 31%. Outgoing Mayor Brian Blad brought in 14% of the vote. They love the theme. Additionally, Dahlquist is a member of the Pocatello\/Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce\u2019s Beautification Committee and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Portneuf Greenway.<\/p>\n<p>Dahlquist will be sworn in as the mayor of Pocatello in January in the city council chambers. He said he will have a lot of work ahead of him after that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know this is going to be a hard job.
