\n\tBestselling author Jillian Lauren, who is the wife of\u00a0Weezer<\/a>\u00a0bassist\u00a0Scott Shriner<\/a>,\u00a0has filed for divorce<\/a> after 20 years of marriage. Lauren cited \u201cirreconcilable differences\u201d as the reason for her decision, according to legal documents obtained by People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe pair married in November 2005 and share two sons, Jovanni Starshine, 13, and Tariku Moon, 17. Lauren is seeking joint legal and physical custody, she has also requested spousal support and asked that the court\u2019s ability to award Shriner spousal support be terminated, per the outlet. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe author \u2014 whose legal name is Jillian Lauren-Shriner but is professionally known as Jillian Lauren \u2014 is also asking that her last name be restored to Lauren, per People.<\/p>\n

\n\tA representative for Lauren and Shriner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe news arrives after Lauren was granted the right to enter a two-year mental health diversion program. After she completes the program as ordered, a judge is expected to dismiss the two felony charges filed against her in connection with the wild exchange of gunfire with LAPD officers that left her wounded outside of the couple\u2019s home in Eagle Rock on April 8. Officials say she fired first.<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to the\u00a0LAPD<\/a>, Lauren\u00a0racked her gun<\/a>\u00a0and fired it during a standoff with police officers who were in a neighboring yard conducting a search for hit-and-run suspects who had fled the scene of a nearby traffic collision earlier that day.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough the author was not involved in the hit-and-run, police claimed that Lauren shot at officers who were on the other side of a fence. \u201cThe officers gave Shriner repeated verbal commands to drop the handgun, however, she did not comply,\u201d LAPD Commander Alex Chogyoji previously said in a case overview video. \u201cMoments later, Shriner racked the handgun, pointed it at the officers and fired, resulting in an officer involved shooting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLauren was shot in the shoulder by a responding officer, then was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to her arm. She was later booked on suspicion of\u00a0attempted murder<\/a>\u00a0and released on $1 million bail. <\/p>\n

\n\tProsecutors ultimately charged her with firing a gun with gross negligence and assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Lauren pled not guilty to the charges in May, and was granted a mental health diversion program,\u00a0avoiding jail time, in September.<\/p>\n

The attorney and her co-counsel, Georgina Wakefield, said they were \u201cvery pleased\u201d that Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Susan J.
