\n\tBeatlemania is back at the BBC<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe broadcaster has acquired \u201cHamburg Days,\u201d an upcoming six-part drama series about the Beatles<\/a>\u2018 early career in the \u201960s, from Turbine Studios for BBC One and iPlayer. \u201cHamburg Days\u201d \u2014 developed by \u201cGeneration War\u201d producer Benjamin Benedict with \u201cSuccession\u201d alum Jamie Carragher as head writer \u2014 is based on the autobiography by artist and Beatles session musician Klaus Voormann, who also consulted on the series.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIn the smoke-filled clubs of Hamburg\u2019s St. Pauli\u2019s red-light district, an inexperienced young rock \u2018n\u2019 roll band from Liverpool collide with two young artists, Klaus Voormann and Astrid Kirchherr,\u201d the show\u2019s synopsis reads. \u201cTogether, they help spark a transformation that turns a scrappy group of teenagers into the greatest music phenomenon the world has ever known: The Beatles.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCasting of the fab four in \u201cHamburg Days\u201d has not yet been revealed. German director Christian Schwochow (\u201cThe Crown\u201d) will serve as showrunner, while Mat Whitecross (\u201cColdplay: A Head Full of Dreams,\u201d \u201cOasis: Supersonic\u201d) is set to direct. The music in \u201cHamburg Days\u201d will be curated by BAFTA-winning musician and composer David Holmes. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u2019Hamburg Days\u2019 is the fascinating story of how, in the space of two short years, a raw young band from Liverpool honed their music skills in Hamburg, before returning home to become an overnight worldwide success,\u201d said Sue Deeks, head of scripted pre-buy acquisitions at the BBC. \u201cIt is an incredible story, accompanied (of course) by an amazing soundtrack!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe news of \u201cHamburg Days\u201d comes as Sony is in production on Sam Mendes\u2019 four-film Beatles cinematic event, with each movie \u2014 focused on a different Beatles member \u2014 to release in 2028. Harris Dickinson is starring as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHamburg Days\u201d is produced by W&B Television (a Leonine Company) and Turbine Studios for ZDF, the BBC and AGC Television. Executive producers include Benedict, Quirin Berg and Max Wiedemann of W&B Television, Andrew Eaton and Justin Thomson of Turbine Studios and AGC\u2019s Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz and Miguel A. Palos Jr. Isabel Haug of W&B Television serves as a creative producer. The project is overseen at ZDF by Frank Zervos, Caroline von Senden and Alexandra Staib and the series is supported by MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.<\/p>\n
