TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Concerns rose on Wednesday afternoon following a video circulating social media over a man allegedly armed with a gun near the University of Arizona campus.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On Dec. 3., footage circulated social media of a man allegedly carrying a gun near the campus.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Calls came into the News 4 Tucson newsroom regarding the incident. The University of Arizona Police Department said it is aware of the video circulating online, and has analyzed the footage.\u00a0<\/p>\n
University Police determined the incident happened off campus, and the Tucson Police Department is handling the matter at this time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
University Police said there is no threat to the campus community, and operations are continuing as normal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to TPD, officers, along with University Police, searched the surrounding area of the campus for about an hour and found no suspicious activity.<\/p>\n
TPD said an unverified allegation stated “that a man with a rifle was near Greek Row on campus.” At that time, officers were in the area and didn’t observe a person with a rifle or anything suspicious.\u00a0<\/p>\n
