Ian Wright has issued a message to Arsenal players after reports of \u201cunrest\u201d in the dressing room.<\/p>\n
A report from The Athletic last week claimed that the dressing room has been \u201csplintered for many years\u201d with some players \u201cwielding significant influence\u201d.<\/p>\n
It comes amid a mixed start to the season for the Gunners, who are eight points off Manchester City in the WSL title race, and have lost two of their opening four games in the Women\u2019s Champions League.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the Crossways podcast, Wright and former England star Steph Houghton gave their response to the report, which also suggested there was tension between Arsenal players.<\/a><\/p>\n Ian Wright speaks of \u201cdissension\u201d at Arsenal<\/p>\n Ian Wright says The Athletic\u2019s report suggests there is \u201cdissension\u201d and \u201cunhappy players\u201d in the dressing room at Arsenal.<\/p>\n He also sent a message to Arsenal players, insisting that they have to \u201cexpect\u201d reports like this due to their size and stature within the women\u2019s game.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cI think a club of Arsenal\u2019s size and stature, you have to expect that. Even if 50 per cent of what they (The Athletic) are saying is true, it\u2019s still pretty damning.\u201d<\/p>\n Wright added that Arsenal have to \u201cwelcome\u201d the article and make sure they put in place \u201cpieces\u201d to change opinions of what is going on behind the scenes.<\/p>\n The Arsenal legend added: \u201cOf course, when things are coming out of the club like that, it\u2019s because there\u2019s a lot of dissension, there\u2019s a lot of unhappy players there.<\/p>\n \u201cI think they are making the changes but it will take time. This is something they are not used to but they should be used to it because it\u2019s Arsenal. It would make me angry.\u201d<\/p>\n Houghton said she has been in teams where there have been issues behind the scenes, but they were never reported on.<\/p>\n She said that with the growth of the women\u2019s game, this is something that can be more expected, as shown by similar reports in the world of men\u2019s football.<\/p>\n Houghton added: \u201cFor me, as a captain or senior player, my main aim would be, \u2018we\u2019ve got to make it better\u2019.
