Will Stein<\/a> is in the process of creating his first coaching staff. The former Louisville quarterback is leaning into his roots. <\/p>\n

KSR has learned that Pete Nochta<\/a> is expected to join Stein at Kentucky. During the 2025 season, he held the title Director of Recruiting, one of many roles he\u2019s served over the last 10+ years for the Louisville football team. <\/p>\n

As the Director of Recruiting, Nochta helped organize the Cards\u2019 recruiting efforts. Recruiting is a large logistical operation, and he was charged with communication between players and the program, admissions, and dabbled in scouting. He was also the NFL Liaison, a role Vince Marrow held during his Kentucky tenure. <\/p>\n

Nochta previously had titles as Director of High School Relations and On-Campus Recruiting. He spent a season as the Cards\u2019 tight ends coach in 2014, and was a graduate assistant once his college career ended. <\/p>\n

Nochta is a Lexington native who attended Tates Creek High School. His father was a head football coach in the area and won KHSAA Coach of the Year in 1999-00 during his time at Bryan Station. Nochta played tight end at Louisville from 2006-2010, during the beginning of Stein\u2019s time at the school. The tight end started in 20+ games and caught 11 career receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns. He was a part of the Cards\u2019 2007 Orange Bowl team. <\/p>\n

During the previous offseason, Kentucky lost its top recruiter to Louisville. Vince Marrow had a much larger job than the one previously held by Nochta, but it will be eye-opening to see the longtime Louisville staffer, one who worked for three different head coaches over more than a decade, wearing Kentucky blue. <\/p>\n
