One person who knows its value well is former Men\u2019s Health cover star  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/a64742126\/ben-shephard-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/a64742126\/ben-shephard-interview\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Ben Shephard\" data-node-id=\"1.5\" class=\"body-link css-1d8p8n5 emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ben Shephard<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"4\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Earlier this year, the 50-year-old TV presenter spoke to us about the role mindful movement and recovery play in his routine, and how prioritising mobility work helps him hit both his performance and day-to-day lifestyle goals. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"6\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018I used to just turn up and do stuff,\u2019 he said. \u2018Now, I\u2019m much more conscious of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/fitness\/a68038159\/pilates-lift-core-workout\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/fitness\/a68038159\/pilates-lift-core-workout\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Pilates\" data-node-id=\"6.1\" class=\"body-link css-1d8p8n5 emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pilates<\/a> and stretching to protect my body. I don\u2019t want to be in a position where I can\u2019t play <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/fitness\/a65994119\/golf-workout-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/fitness\/a65994119\/golf-workout-program\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"golf\" data-node-id=\"6.3\" class=\"body-link css-1d8p8n5 emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">golf<\/a> with my sons and my mates.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"11\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018Bits of me are falling off now. My back is in a state and my knees are in a state. I\u2019m a lot more conscious of my need to apply functional fitness in my training.\u2019<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"13\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Building <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/fitness\/a65899503\/best-strength-training-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/fitness\/a65899503\/best-strength-training-plans\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"strength\" data-node-id=\"13.1\" class=\"body-link css-1d8p8n5 emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">strength<\/a> \u2013 both mentally and physically \u2013 is harder as you age, he said. \u2018In my 40s, I was still on the attack. In my fifties, I\u2019m on the defensive. It\u2019s all about how I prolong things now \u2013 not going out and smashing it left, right and centre.\u2019<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"15\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Mobility training is just one of the tools Ben relies upon for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/health\/a69207332\/lifepans-slowing-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/health\/a69207332\/lifepans-slowing-study\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"longevity\" data-node-id=\"15.1\" class=\"body-link css-1d8p8n5 emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">longevity<\/a>. And, to encourage others to give it a go, he recently shared a simple mobility workout, created by his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/stevecolemanfitness\/?g=5\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/stevecolemanfitness\/?g=5\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"PT Steve Coleman\" data-node-id=\"15.3\" class=\"body-link css-1d8p8n5 emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PT Steve Coleman<\/a>, to his Instagram.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"17\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018Not every session has to be a killer, sometimes it\u2019s just about getting the body moving,\u2019 reads the caption. \u2018This one\u2019s a short mobility routine from Steve that\u2019s ideal if you\u2019ve been sat down a lot lately or want to feel a bit better.\u2019 He describes the session as \u2018quick, easy, and surprisingly satisfying once it\u2019s done\u2019 \u2013 and he\u2019s not wrong.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"20\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">The workout comprises seven simple movements and requires absolutely no equipment.
