When 49ers linebacker Fred Warner suffered a fractured and dislocated ankle, the team immediately announced he was done for the season<\/a>. Warner isn\u2019t so sure.<\/p>\n

49ers General Manager John Lynch stressed today that the team will follow the recommendations of the medical staff, and doctors don\u2019t believe Warner would be able to return even if the 49ers make it to the Super Bowl. But Lynch added that Warner believes he can rehab well enough to get back on the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, the docs say it\u2019s probably on the wrong side<\/a> of the range that they would suggest,\u201d Lynch said on 49ers Game Plan. \u201cBut even the docs with Fred say, \u2018You know what, let him rehab as if he\u2019s coming back for something and we\u2019ll see where he\u2019s at.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lynch said Warner tells him \u201cevery day\u201d that he thinks he\u2019ll be able to play before the postseason is over. But Lynch said that will be up to the team\u2019s medical staff, not to Warner.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s outside the realm, and I promise you, it\u2019s our duty, with a player like Fred, not to ever put himself in harm\u2019s way in terms of not being ready,\u201d Lynch said. \u201cAnd so we\u2019ll follow the orders of the doctors. They\u2019ll control this, but Fred is going to push the limits, and he is doing everything possible. He lives in a hyperbaric chamber [for] two, three hours a day. He\u2019s here all the time. He\u2019s unbelievable, this guy.
