Well, whatever this turns out to be, Geoff Keighley is getting the engagement he craved. The official account for The Game Awards<\/a> has now followed up his original X<\/a> (or Twitter<\/a>) post with a riddle.<\/p>\n

The \u2588\u2588\u2588\u2588\u2588 are silent. \u2588\u2588\u2588\u2588\u2588 bleeds. New \u2588\u2588\u2588\u2588\u2588 stir.\u2014 The Game Awards (@thegameawards) December 5, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n

Part of the message is redacted, but it reads: \u201cThe [blank] are silent. [Blank] bleeds. New [blank] stir.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was some renewed speculation overnight that this pertains to Lords of the Fallen 2<\/a>, but we\u2019re not sure that game has anywhere near enough budget for something like this.<\/p>\n

The speculation goes on.<\/p>\n

Update #3 [Wed 3rd Dec 2025, 2:15pm]: Fans are still trying to wrap their head around this mysterious statue that’s shown up in California, which is almost certainly a teaser for The Game Awards<\/a> later this month.<\/p>\n

Having stated the statue has nothing to do with Diablo 4, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has now confirmed another game the statue isn’t related to.<\/p>\n

In another post on ResetEra<\/a>, he says the statue is not related to The Elder Scrolls 6<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I’ll do this one more time because people are getting out of control: no the statue isn’t teasing Elder Scrolls 6. Now I’m gonna stop responding about this. Unless someone finds me at the JW bar next week and asks really nicely, then maybe I’ll answer, depending on how many drinks I’ve had.<\/p>\n

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced what feels like a lifetime ago, and eager fans were curious about the possibility of the statue relating to the realm of Tamriel in some way. It seems this isn’t the case.<\/p>\n

By the way, it seems the statue isn’t referring to God of War<\/a>, either, as confirmed by Santa Monica Studio’s Cory Barlog.<\/p>\n

Update #2 [Mon 1st Dec 2025, 6:45pm]: The plot thickens.<\/p>\n

Geoff Keighley posted the image of a strange statue, along with its location, over the weekend, and onlookers had narrowed it down to a Diablo 4-related announcement coming at The Game Awards<\/a> later this month.<\/p>\n

However, Jason Schreier, a very well-connected journalist, has said that’s not the case.<\/p>\n

Posting on ResetEra<\/a>, Schreier says the following about Keighley’s teaser, responding to Windows Central reporter Jez Corden’s hint<\/a> that it’s about Diablo 4:<\/p>\n

“No idea where Jez is getting that, but this statue is not teasing the Diablo 4 expansion. (I don’t currently plan on reporting what it is, sorry, but it’s a good one.)”<\/p>\n

So, it seems he knows what this whole thing is related to, but won’t be revealing anything explicitly.<\/p>\n

If he’s to be believed, it seems we’re back to square one; exactly what this statue is about is currently anyone’s guess.<\/p>\n

While many have named existing franchises it could be referencing, it’s just as likely this is teeing up an entirely new IP being shown at The Game Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The mystery will be solved when the show airs later this month, at any rate.<\/p>\n

Update #1 [Mon 1st Dec 2025, 5am]:<\/p>\n

Remember the location in Los Angeles that Geoff Keighley teased?<\/p>\n

Well, someone travelled to it and found an installation showing various serpents and demons, which even lights up at night.<\/p>\n

This is apparently related to some kind of impending Diablo 4<\/a> announcement, as fans have deciphered that the demons on the statue share an identical design as those seen in Blizzard\u2019s hack-and-slash.<\/p>\n

So expect some kind of expansion to debut during The Game Awards<\/a> this month, presumably with a glitzy CG trailer.<\/p>\n

Original Story: Just what the heck is Geoff Keighley teasing?<\/p>\n

With a post on X<\/a>, the presenter and producer of shows like The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest has sent fans into a spin, trying to pick apart a mysterious message.<\/p>\n

Here’s what Keighley has posted:<\/p>\n

The text in the post is a phrase that, when searched on navigation site what3words<\/a>, turns up a location in the Mojave desert in California.<\/p>\n

It’s close to a place called Joshua Tree, between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

In conjunction with the image accompanying the text, fans are throwing out all sorts of theories, with the assumption that this is teasing a new game announcement at The Game Awards 2025.<\/p>\n

Thus far, dominant theories include God of War<\/a>, Diablo<\/a>, The Elder Scrolls 6<\/a>, and a Fallout: New Vegas<\/a> remaster.<\/p>\n

A nearby road, Yucca Mesa Road, has some thinking this could relate to the much-rumoured unveiling of Half-Life 3.<\/p>\n

Also coming up in conversation is the new Tomb Raider game and Santa Monica Studio’s new IP.<\/p>\n

Whatever the case, this is almost certainly a teaser of some kind.<\/p>\n

The Game Awards is only a couple of weeks away, and it’s roughly around this time we start to see teases and confirmations of attendance.<\/p>\n
