7.0-magnitude earthquake felt in western Yukon: Earthquakes Canada<\/p>\n

The shaking of a 7.0-magnitude earthquake on the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, could be felt in western Yukon, according to Earthquakes Canada.<\/p>\n
The earthquake reportedly happened at about 1:41 p.m. Yukon time, as noted by Earthquakes Canada.<\/p>\n
The Yukon RCMP received two 911 calls following the earthquake, according to spokesperson Calista MacLeod.<\/p>\n
Crews with Yukon Highways and Public Works are assessing whether the earthquake impacted infrastructure, spokesperson Krysten Johnson said.<\/p>\n
Yukon Energy Corporation posted to Facebook to notify the public that its crews are checking in on hydro facilities<\/p>\n
News reporters at a downtown restaurant and in Riverdale could feel shaking around that time.<\/p>\n
Reports of shaking being felt are also coming to the News from other parts of the city.<\/p>\n
The earthquake originated close to the Yukon, B.C. and Alaska borders, according to Alison Bird, an earthquake seismologist with Natural Resources Canada.<\/p>\n
It is being felt at least as far as Whitehorse and possibly further, Bird said.<\/p>\n
There have been several aftershocks reported. People are reporting objects falling off shelves, Bird said.<\/p>\n
