James Van Der Beek was slated to appear on the Friday<\/a>, Dec. 5 episode of Today, but he was forced to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances.<\/p>\n

\u201cTell me you have kids without telling me you have kids: Having to postpone a @today show appearance because of pink eye,” the Dawson’s Creek star wrote on his Instagram Stories. “Sorry @today @craigmelvinnbc for having to push. Pink eye(s) almost cleared up. See you Dec. 17,” he added.<\/p>\n

Of course, something like this isn’t out of the realm of possibilities, given that Van Der Beek and his wife, Kimberly, have six kids; Olivia, 15, Joshua, 13, Annabel, 11, Emilia, 8, Gwendolyn, 6, and Jeremiah, 4.<\/p>\n

In addition to being an actor and a father, Van Der Beek has also been fighting stage 3 colorectal cancer. He shared the news in November<\/a> 2024.<\/p>\n

“I have colorectal cancer,” he told People magazine<\/a> at the time. “I\u2019ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family<\/a>,” he continued, adding, “There\u2019s reason for optimism, and I\u2019m feeling good.”<\/p>\n

Fans have been sending continuous prayers<\/a> to the actor in the months that have followed. In September 2025, Van Der Beek made a virtual appearance during the Dawson’s Creek reunion, which was held in New York City. Photos and videos of the actor left fans worried, as he appeared to have lost a considerable amount of weight.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Van Der Beek seems to be doing okay as he continues fighting on.<\/p>\n
