The College Football Playoff<\/a> field is set. Sunday marked the final Top 25 release, and the official 2025 12-team CFP bracket is in place.<\/p>\n

Conference championship weekend gave teams a chance to punch their tickets to the field, with the five highest-ranked conference champions earning a spot and 11 at-large teams rounding things out. There was plenty of intrigue, though, after 8-5 Duke<\/a> won the ACC and an SEC Championship game that created questions for the final teams in the field.<\/p>\n

Now, the stage is set for the 2025 College Football Playoff. Here is the official 12-team CFP bracket. First-round games begin Dec. 19-20, and the top four seeds will receive byes. Conference champions are noted with asterisks.<\/p>\n

First-round byes<\/p>\n

1. Indiana*<\/p>\n

After winning its first outright Big Ten Championship since 1945, Indiana<\/a> took over the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff. The Hoosiers squared off in a heavyweight fight with Ohio State<\/a> and came away with the 13-10 victory at Lucas Oil Stadium.<\/p>\n

That game featured the No. 1-ranked vs. No. 2-ranked teams in the country. As a result, Indiana will be the top overall seed in the 12-team CFP bracket.<\/p>\n

2. Ohio State<\/p>\n

Falling in the Big Ten Championship to Indiana<\/a> in a tightly contested game, Ohio State<\/a> dropped out of the top spot in the final College Football Playoff bracket. The Buckeyes are in line for a a first-round bye, though, after coming in as the No. 2 seed.<\/p>\n

Both defenses were on full display in the Big Ten Championship, but a missed field goal and failed fourth down in the red zone came back to haunt Ohio State. Still, they will sit out the first round of the CFP and begin their run at a bowl game site.<\/p>\n

3. Georgia*<\/p>\n

Georgia<\/a> had an opportunity to seal a first-round bye in the SEC Championship, and the Bulldogs didn\u2019t leave any room for doubt against Alabama<\/a>. UGA dominated from the start and stopped the Crimson Tide running game en route to the 28-7 victory at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.<\/p>\n

As a result, Georgia clinched a top-four seed once again. The Bulldogs\u2019 lone blemish on their resume was a home loss to Alabama, but they take a 12-1 record into the College Football Playoff.<\/p>\n

4. Texas Tech*<\/p>\n

The Big 12 Championship marked a rematch of a regular-season matchup between Texas Tech<\/a> and BYU<\/a>. The Cougars scored first, but the Red Raiders took over from there in another dominant performance.<\/p>\n

As a result, Texas Tech secured a top-four seed in the College Football Playoff and will get a first-round bye. It\u2019s been quite a year for the Red Raiders as they brought home their first Big 12 title.<\/p>\n

First-round games (on campus sites)<\/p>\n

12. James Madison* at 5. Oregon<\/p>\n

The Sun Belt champion, James Madison<\/a> is the second Group of 6 program to appear in the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket this year. The Dukes were ranked heading into the title game against Troy<\/a> and came away victorious, sealing another conference title en route to their first CFP appearance.<\/p>\n

As the No. 5 seed, Oregon<\/a> will host a first-round College Football Playoff game at Autzen Stadium. The Ducks ended the regular season with an 11-1 record, missing out on the Big Ten Championship, but is still gearing up for a second consecutive appearance in the CFP.<\/p>\n

9. Alabama at 8. Oklahoma<\/p>\n

All eyes were on Alabama<\/a> after a 28-7 loss to Georgia<\/a> in the SEC Championship. However, the Crimson Tide made the cut, checking in as the No. 9 seed in the bracket and will enter the College Football playoff with a 10-3 overall record.<\/p>\n

After overhauling the roster and coaching staff this offseason, Oklahoma<\/a> now finds itself in the College Football Playoff. The Sooners are the No. 8 seed in the field, meaning they will also host a first-round game in Norman.<\/p>\n

11. Tulane* at 6. Ole Miss<\/p>\n

As the highest-ranked Group of 6 team, Tulane<\/a> will be the No. 11 seed in the College Football Playoff this year after winning the American Conference Championship. Friday\u2019s game felt like a win-and-in game against North Texas<\/a>, and the Green Wave rose to the occasion and sealed a league title to punch their ticket.<\/p>\n

Even without Lane Kiffin<\/a> at head coach, Ole Miss<\/a> is gearing up for the College Football Playoff. The Rebels came in as the No. 6-ranked team heading into the weekend and stayed there in the final rankings, meaning a first-round CFP game is coming to Oxford.<\/p>\n

10. Miami at 7. Texas A&M<\/p>\n

Another team of discussion throughout the weekend, Miami<\/a> now finds itself in the College Football Playoff after Alabama\u2019s<\/a> loss in the SEC Championship. The Hurricanes were on the outside looking in heading into the weekend, but jumped into the field and will now compete for a national championship.<\/p>\n

A loss to Texas<\/a> in the Lone Star Showdown kept Texas A&M<\/a> out of the SEC Championship. However, the Aggies are still making their way to the College Football Playoff with an 11-1 record and will host a first-round matchup at Kyle Field.<\/p>\n
