Rangers have offered John Souttar<\/a> improved terms on an extension until the summer of 2028.<\/p>\n Talks have been on-going with the 29-year-old – who is out of contract at the end of the season – for several months as Rangers <\/a>chief look to try and come to an agreement. The Light Blues have offered a substantial increase to his basic wage over the discussions on a guaranteed two year deal.<\/p>\n Negotiations over a deal are still on-going with Souttar\u2019s representatives. Sporting director Kevin Thelwell<\/a> had led the discussions but has now been taken over by other Rangers officials, along with input from the 49ers Enterprises group.<\/p>\n The central defender, if fit, is expected to make Steve Clarke\u2019s Scotland squad for this summer\u2019s World Cup finals, where the national team will face Haiti, Morocco and Brazil. Souttar is currently out injured and faces a race against time to see if he will be fit for the New Year derby with Celtic.<\/a><\/p>\n Souttar moved to Rangers at the start of 2022 after he had agreed a pre-contract, forcing Hearts into selling as he went into the final few months of his Tynecastle deal. Rangers also have captain James Tavernier and keeper Liam Kelly out-of-contract in the summer.<\/p>\n The skipper is now in his 10th year at the club and is in line for a testimonial. Keeper Liam Kelly has been back-up to Jack Butland but also remains an important part of the squad.<\/p>\n He is also part of the Scotland squad and likely to join Souttar at the World Cup.
