TORONTO \u2014 On a night when his club fell apart defensively, Aaron Boone found an outlet for his frustration: home plate umpire Manny Gonzalez.<\/p>\n

Boone was upset early on about a high called third strike to Oswald Peraza that Gonzalez later owned up to missing. But then in the seventh inning of the Yankees\u2019 sloppy 8-4 loss to the Blue Jays<\/a>, Anthony Volpe struck out looking at another high strike, which set off the visiting dugout.<\/p>\n

Gonzalez motioned that he had ejected someone, but Boone was not sure who, so he went to find out \u2014 it was pitching coach Matt Blake. <\/p>\n

Boone then began to walk back to the dugout, but appeared to offer some more commentary on the way, which is when Gonzalez tossed the manager.<\/p>\n

Then Boone got his money\u2019s worth, engaging in a heated shouting match with Gonzalez after his fourth ejection of the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got on the one call with Peraza early and he kind of disarmed us and said, \u2018Hey, I missed it,\u2019 which was all good,\u201d Boone said. \u201cThen he got Blake.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just went out there to see and then he kind of lost his mind on me. Just a couple calls not going our way, but that wasn\u2019t our issue tonight. We gave them too many outs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Max Fried cut the top of his left pinky finger in his last inning of work \u2014 in his first start in 11 days because of a blister on his left index finger \u2014 but said it was not an issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt happens. That\u2019s nothing to worry about,\u201d Fried said. \u201cCompletely fine with the blister.\u201d<\/p>\n

Television cameras caught Aaron Judge wincing after making a throw from right field to third base late in Tuesday\u2019s game, but he showed no ill effects on Wednesday while drilling his 37th home run of the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s OK. Not much,\u201d Boone said before the game. \u201cJust probably a throw that didn\u2019t feel great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Judge was DHing on Wednesday, but that was planned in advance of Tuesday\u2019s grimace to get him a day off his feet on the turf at Rogers Centre.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s a one-off,\u201d Boone said. \u201cHe\u2019s not DHing because of that. I think he\u2019s alright.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luis Gil (lat strain) made his third rehab start on Wednesday night with Triple-A Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre, building up to 67 pitches across 3 \u00b9\/\u2083 innings in which he gave up five runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four. <\/p>\n

His fastball averaged 94.4 mph after averaging 96.6 mph last season.<\/p>\n

The Yankees had still not decided whether this would be Gil\u2019s last rehab start, though it would not be surprising if he makes one more to build up even further before returning.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a good buildup for him,\u201d Boone said. \u201cYou want to see how he does and how he holds his stuff throughout the outing, what\u2019s the command look like, what\u2019s the bounce back [Thursday] look like. What\u2019s our rotation look like moving forward in the coming week?
