WYOMING, MI \u2014 Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan and University of Michigan Health-West have broken ground on a new outpatient orthopedic center in Wyoming that\u2019s set to include operating rooms, urgent care, occupational therapy and clinical services.<\/p>\n
Located on UM Health-West\u2019s campus, the building\u2019s clinical space is expected to open in mid-2026, while its surgical center will launch in fall 2027, according to a release. The project includes the renovation of a 30,767-square-foot building on Metro Court SW and the construction of a 50,000-square-foot addition.<\/p>\n
Ronald Grifka, president of UM Health-West, said the new center will \u201cbring advanced orthopaedic care closer to home for thousands of families in West Michigan.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWith this collaboration, we\u2019re giving patients the best of all worlds: local expertise, expanded surgical capacity and seamless access to U-M Health\u2019s specialty resources when needed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The orthopedic center is being built as a joint venture between Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan and UM Health-West. Once operational, UM Health-West would own a minority stake of the surgical center. Officials from UM Health-West and OAM previously declined to say how much they\u2019re spending on the project.<\/p>\n
UM Health-West sold Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan the 8.9-acre property and building where the project is being built for $5.99 million, according to a release.<\/p>\n
Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan has served as UM Health-West\u2019s primary orthopedic provider for \u201cmany years,\u201d according to a release.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur shared vision is rooted in providing patients with timely, expert orthopaedic care in a modern outpatient environment,\u201d said Kenneth Easton, president of Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan. \u201cThis partnership allows us to expand access while maintaining the high standards of quality, safety and service our patients and referring providers expect.\u201d<\/p>\n
