A 5,200-square-foot complex on a four-acre site, the Portola Valley Barn comprises guest accommodations, an office, and recreational spaces. Designed as three gabled structures linked by service volumes, the design of the scheme references local rural vernacular through reclaimed oak, ebonized mahogany, and standing-seam metal roofing. In contrast, the interiors adopt a contemporary, neutral palette with white walls, polished surfaces, and integrated artwork. Large glazed openings connect the rooms to the surrounding grove.\u00a0<\/p>\n

San Francisco Modern is a 6,200-square-foot residence on a narrow one-acre site overlooking the Presidio. Designed to maximize natural light, the home incorporates light wells, an operable skylight over the central stair, and a restrained material palette. The rear facade opens strategically to create a sense of spatial relief, complemented by 1,100 square feet of terraces. The house contains five bedrooms within an open-plan layout with consistent materials and simple geometries, establishing a measured dialogue with the neighboring property.<\/p>\n

A two-story residence situated within a mature oak grove and adjacent to an open space preserve, Oak Woodland is designed to blend traditional and modern preferences. The home employs cedar, metal, and concrete in a restrained palette. Long rooflines provide shading, while extensive glazing creates strong indoor\u2013outdoor connections across communal and private zones. Interiors feature walnut, gray limestone, and muted finishes that emphasize warm modernity.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Roosevelt Ranch is a multifamily retreat situated within thousands of acres of reclaimed wetlands. Drawing from regional agrarian forms, the complex comprises an elevated main lodge for communal gatherings and a series of staggered cabins connected by boardwalks. All structures sit on mat slabs to accommodate 100-year floodplain conditions. Materials such as galvanized steel, western red cedar, and darkened cement were selected for durability and to align with the site\u2019s natural tones.\u00a0<\/p>\n
