Founding Suicide Silence guitarist Chris Garza has announced he’s taking a bit of a break from the band. In a statement, Garza wrote that he’s only on a hiatus from Suicide Silence live shows and is still very much in the band. Which makes sense, considering Garza founded Suicide Silence way back in 2002.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat’s up everyone,” wrote Garza. “As some of you have noticed, I’ve missed the last couple Suicide Silence shows. It’s because I’m on a hiatus from the band. SuSi has been on my brain every day since 2002 with no break. Everything is fine. I just need to press the reset button so I can make the right decisions in the near future. As the Terminator said. I’ll be back.”<\/p>\n
As for Suicide Silence following up their 2023 record Remember\u2026 You Must Die, Garza said in an interview with Nik Nocturnal back in January they’re working on it.<\/p>\n
“I am in Southern California so it’s like, I could\u2026 I’m lucky,” said Garza at the time. “I’m just going to all these shows. I’m seeing deathcore bands, new metalcore bands. I didn’t know who Alpha Wolf was until they they played a small venue down the street, I was like ‘okay, I’ll check it out.’<\/p>\n
“When you’re consistently putting new shit into your mind \u2013 could be music, could be books, learning \u2013 something happens to to your fucking brain where it forces you to be open-minded, and that causes a new form of being creative.<\/p>\n
“So now we started writing our new record two weeks ago, and I don’t know man. I’m playing different. It’s weird, I don’t know. I’m just like ‘oh, I wouldn’t normally do that.’ So it’s like, the self-titled backlash, being broke for a long time, plus also being inspired, plus the new bands really pushing me without them knowing. I don’t know. I can’t put my finger it. Something is happening.”\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n
