In the moments immediately following the Chargers\u2019 critical 22-19 overtime win<\/a> over the Eagles on \u201cMonday Night Football,\u201d Los Angeles\u2019 superstar quarterback appeared to want nothing to do with a Laura Rutledge on-field postgame interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I\u2019m trying to celebrate with my team,\u201d Herbert said while trying to avoid ESPN\u2019s sideline reporter.<\/p>\n

The awkward encounter drew ire online, as some did not appreciate how Herbert tried to dodge his postgame winners\u2019 responsibility.<\/p>\n

The collective bargaining agreement forces players to be available to the media after games, including postgame interviews with sideline or locker room reporters.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry I thought Justin Herbert was extremely rude to ESPN\u2019s Laura Rutledge,\u201d Fox7 in Texas anchor Alec Nolan posted on X<\/a>. \u201cYou know the drill dude, you\u2019re the QB. Big win for the Chargers, gut-wrenching loss for the Eagles.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some disagreed, saying that Herbert should be able to celebrate with his teammates for a few minutes before getting forced into an interview.<\/p>\n
