Chicago has plenty of nostalgic holiday offerings on tap,\u00a0but this month\u00a0brings along with it a special activation that we just cannot wait for.<\/p>\n
Starting tomorrow, December 10, through December 17, Disney+ will team up with Prince Street Pizza to create a\u00a0Home Alone pop-up, the\u00a0legendary holiday movie that just celebrated its 35th anniversary.<\/p>\n
That’s right, you’ll soon be able to live that Kevin McCallister life at\u00a0Little Nero\u2019s pop-up, the fictional delivery joint that\u00a0provided Kevin with the cheesiest pizza ever captured on film. For one week only, step inside a fully decked-out version of the movie\u2019s iconic pizza brand and\u00a0say to the cashier, \u201cA lovely cheese pizza, just for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
The shop will temporarily adopt Little Nero\u2019s branding in everything from signage to staff apparel\u00a0and the instantly recognizable pizza boxes. Already one of Prince Street\u2019s most popular options, the cheese slice gets a temporary rebrand as \u201cA Lovely Cheese Pizza,\u201d\u00a0meaning employees will never be able to watch Home Alone again without wincing. Expect a handful of movie nods throughout the space, subtle enough to feel like an in-joke but bold enough to make the whole thing unmistakably Home Alone.<\/p>\n
The charm of the event lies in its simplicity. Prince Street doesn\u2019t need to reinvent itself with elaborate sets or interactive elements; the pop-up\u2019s power is in the nostalgia. After all,\u00a0Home Alone isn\u2019t just a movie\u2014it\u2019s a holiday ritual, revisited every December by families, roommates and anyone who has ever dreamed of having a personal pizza all to themselves. Bringing Little Nero\u2019s to life taps into that universal memory, offering visitors a chance to briefly step into Kevin\u2019s world without needing traps, paint cans or burglars.<\/p>\n
Chicago isn’t the only city getting its Home Alone pizza moment. Toronto and Los Angeles outposts of Prince Street Pizza will also get Nero’s makeovers, with the L.A. iteration receiving a full makeover, plus\u00a0a Little Nero\u2019s delivery car outside for the perfect holiday selfie.\u00a0For anyone who grew up watching Kevin\u00a0try to murder the Wet Bandits, the opportunity is too fun to pass up.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And if you can’t make it out there, perhaps consider visiting the Home Alone house, which is just a short trip north of Chicago.<\/p>\n
