In the early 2000s, 50 Cent was rising up in the hip-hop circle in New York, while Diddy (then Puff Daddy) had been an established star since the \u201990s. <\/p>\n

After departing Columbia Records and being shot nine times, 50 took up ghostwriting for other artists. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

50 reportedly ghostwrote a verse for Diddy on G. Dep\u2018s \u201cLet\u2019s Get It\u201d in 2001, marking one of the first times they interacted. <\/p>\n

At that point, their relationship was professional.<\/p>\n

In 2022, 50 claimed on The Breakfast Club<\/a> that he ghostwrote the verse.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

2002: The First Name Drop & Light Disses<\/p>\n

50 Cent references Diddy for the first time on the Get Rich or Die Tryin\u2019 song \u201cU Not Like Me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHoes be like \u201950, you so witty\u2019\/ On the d\u2014k like they heard I ghostwrite for P. Diddy,\u201d he rapped.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Later on a remix of Notorious B.I.G.<\/a> song \u201cRealest N\u2013s\u201d for the Bad Boys II soundtrack, in which DJ WhooKid reportedly used a track he worked on with Diddy featuring unreleased Notorious B.I.G. vocals, 50 Cent declares in his verse: \u201cI run the city, and I don\u2019t dance around like Diddy.\u201d<\/p>\n
