\n\tStephen Colbert<\/a> addressed Paramount<\/a> Skydance\u2019s $108 billion hostile takeover bid for Warner Bros.<\/a> Discovery on The Late Show<\/a>, suggesting that his \u201cbeloved parent company\u201d could\u00a0instead use the money to \u201cuncancel\u201d him. <\/p>\n

\n\tDuring last night\u2019s monologue, the host explained how there is currently \u201ca huge bidding war\u201d for Warner Bros. Discovery<\/a>, which has \u201ca lot of juicy IP.\u201d \u201cWe\u2019re talking DC superheroes, Harry Potter, Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, Fifty Shades of Grey, and The Lord of the Rings,\u201d he noted. \u201cNot to mention its erotic spin-off, Fifty Shades of Gandalf the Grey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tColbert broke down the bidding war, which involves Netflix bidding for Warner Bros. for $82.7 billion. \u201cBut just yesterday morning, my beloved parent company, Paramount, reportedly launched a hostile takeover bid for Warner Brothers, valued at $108 billion,\u201d he continued. \u201cWow. I got to say, if my company\u2019s got that kind of green, I\u2019m sure they can afford to uncancel one of their best shows.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter cheers from the audience, Colbert quipped, \u201cCBS, you heard the people. Bring back The Equalizer. We need our Queen to return. Why do you think America has become so unequalized?\u201d Colbert was referencing Queen Latifah\u2019s TV adaptation of The Equalizer, which was canceled after five seasons back in May, although, of course, he really meant his own show, which will come to an end<\/a> in 2026. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTurns out Paramount got a little assist on the cash front,\u201d Colbert said. \u201cTheir bid includes $24 billion from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi wealth funds. And when the dictator of Saudi Arabia gives you billions of dollars, I\u2019m sure there\u2019s no catch.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe joked, \u201cIn a totally unrelated story, I\u2019m looking forward to next season\u2019s new CBS hit comedy, Young Mohammed bin Sheldon.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn July, CBS\u00a0announced plans to end its late-night talk show, hosted by\u00a0Colbert\u00a0over the last decade, in May 2026, amid financial issues at the network. \u201cWe consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire\u00a0The Late Show\u00a0franchise at that time,\u201d the network said in a statement. \u201cWe are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late-night television.\u201d <\/p>\n
