The WNBA has firmly cemented itself as one of America\u2019s most popular leagues since the 2024 draft, which is when Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was selected with the number one overall pick. Since joining the WNBA, Clark has been instrumental in the league reaching record attendance and television viewership<\/a>, as well as it expanding with new franchises at an exponential rate.<\/p>\n

Clark\u2019s peers in the WNBA realize just how critical Clark is to the league\u2019s success. Star Minnesota Lynx forward and annual MVP candidate Napheesa Collier recently spoke about it with Glamour magazine.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe amount of money that Caitlin Clark has made the league is insane, and she\u2019s getting 0% of it because we have no revenue share. She gets less than $80,000 a year, and she\u2019s bringing in, like, hundreds of millions of dollars. It\u2019s insane.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Clark missed the majority of her second year in the WNBA due to injury, most notably a nagging groin that kept her out of the entire second half of the season.<\/p>\n

Fans were hopeful that they\u2019d get to see more of Clark to make up for the missed time in the upcoming inaugural season of Project B, an international league set to start its inaugural season in November 2026.<\/p>\n

However, one of Clark\u2019s WNBA teammates has revealed that Clark won\u2019t be participating.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tried to get her to play in [Project B],\u201d Sophie Cunningham\u00a0said. \u201cShe was like \u2018No.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans reacted to Clark\u2019s decision on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s clearly not about making the most money for Caitlin Clark in her career,\u201d one fan wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll that talk from people about Project B offering CC $20\u201330 million and her not being able to say no,\u201d someone else added.<\/p>\n

\u201cCaitlin just wants to play in the W, and the commissioner is actively trying to sabotage the league,\u201d another fan added.<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll be interesting to see if Clark ever decides to change her mind.<\/p>\n
