LAS VEGAS (KSNV) \u2014 A woman is suing music artist Cardi B for throwing a microphone at her in a viral moment on the Las Vegas Strip.<\/p>\n

The plaintiff, identified in the suit only as Jane Doe, alleges the 2023 incident left her with “bodily injuries, emotional distress, humiliation, reputational harm, and economic damages.”<\/p>\n

Cardi B, real name Belcalis Marlenis Cephus, was performing at Drai’s Beachclub. Video of the incident <\/a>shows someone throwing water from a cup at her while she’s on stage.<\/p>\n

A stunned Cardi B then throws her microphone into the crowd, near where the water originated.<\/p>\n

Jane Doe’s lawsuit alleges that Cardi B “made repeated gestures and statements encouraging concertgoers to throw water, implicitly authorizing and inviting light splashing from drinks.”<\/p>\n

Other audience members threw water at her without incident before Jane Doe also splashed her, according to the suit.<\/p>\n

The microphone that she threw was later auctioned<\/a> for about $99,000, which the lawsuit alleges “exacerbated Plaintiff’s emotional distress.”<\/p>\n

Jane Doe is seeking at least $15,000 in general damages, plus special and punitive damages. A press conference with her attorney is planned for later Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigated the incident<\/a>. The woman who filed a report with LVMPD said she did not throw the drink, but she was hit by the microphone in the right shoulder and was “experiencing pain” as a result.<\/p>\n

LVMPD later said that after consulting the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, no charges would be filed because of “insufficient evidence.” <\/p>\n
