But Louis-Dreyfus, who played Elaine on the NBC hit, just grumbled at the very mention of it:\u00a0“God, I’d love to go back and fix that look.”\u00a0<\/p>\nShe also had a stern warning for anybody trying to emulate Elaine’s ’90s look:\u00a0“Listen, if anybody in America is listening to this:\u00a0Please don’t do the ’90s again.”\u00a0When Poehler pointed out that young women are already dressing like Elaine these days,\u00a0Louis-Dreyfus offered an apology: “I don’t know what to say. I’m just so f**king sorry. I\u00a0really, really am.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

In fact, Louis-Dreyfus remembered feeling a pang of jealousy when another iconic sitcom debuted on NBC: “Friends,”\u00a0with its cast of attractive young New Yorkers.<\/p>\n
“I actually remember because\u00a0‘Friends’ came out at some point when we were doing ‘Seinfeld,'”\u00a0Louis-Dreyfus recalled.\u00a0“And all those girls were so sexy! And I remember thinking like, ‘Ah, f**k, I should have been sexy!'” Looking back, she wishes she had slipped “a midriff”\u00a0or something into Elaine’s wardrobe.<\/p>\n
But Poehler stood up in Elaine’s defense:\u00a0“That’s why we love Elaine. We love her because of that, because she feels like us. She feels like someone we would know and love. She feels like our funniest friend.” She added that\u00a0the show “wouldn’t work if Elaine was paying attention to”\u00a0her fashion choices. “It never would work.”<\/p>\n
Louis-Dreyfus begged to differ, though:\u00a0“It might’ve worked.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
