Legendary Ghanaian goalkeeper, <\/a>Sammy Adjei<\/a> has said that it is imperative for Accra Hearts of Oak\u2019s goalie, Benjamin Asare, to join the <\/a>Black Stars<\/a> for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n

According to him, the Phobia goalkeeper has been instrumental in the team\u2019s qualification for the Mundial, with his goalkeeping exploits rescuing them on several occasions.<\/p>\n

Adjei, the goalkeeper who led Hearts of Oak to a historic treble in the 2000s, noted that it is incumbent on the <\/a>Black Stars<\/a>\u2019 technical team to include Asare in the World Cup squad, considering his performances and commitment.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview with Angel TV, <\/a>Sammy Adjei<\/a> advised Asare to work hard to recover from his injury, stressing that his absence would be a big blow for the team at the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is difficult to comment on this issue. Asare must go [to the World Cup]. Even if he is not the first-choice goalkeeper, he can be on the bench. Goalkeepers are different in football. <\/p>\n

“I pray for God to grant him strength to recover in time and perform. Goalies train to regain their form, while others use different strategies, but it is tough. I wish him a speedy recovery because we don\u2019t have other reliable goalkeepers, and he came to save us. If he stays out, it will destroy everything,\u201d he said in Twi.<\/p>\n

Asare has been sidelined for two weeks due to injury and has missed almost four Hearts of Oak matches.<\/p>\n
