The Yankees didn’t get mentioned a whole lot thanks to their relative inaction, but they avoided getting much heat for it thanks to teams like the Mets losing out on some key members of their roster and the Reds failing to put the high bid on Kyle Schwarber when they had a rare chance to convince a major free agent to sign with them. So, what did get brought up involving the Yankees? Jeff Passan commented on the volatility in the second basemen market, predicting that multiple names could get moved, and mentioned that the Yankees have gotten calls from other GMs on Jazz Chisholm Jr. Now, listening in on calls for players is one thing, but unless the Yanks swing some interesting moves to reshape the infield entirely it’d be unlikely for them to move on from Jazz this offseason.

FanGraphs | Dan Szymborski: It’s ZiPS season, and the Yankees were the latest team to get put under the microscope. It’s (hopefully) far from the finished picture on the team with so little done in the offseason, but the bones of the roster are still here along with plenty of the fat, and it shows a team with a strong position player field that lacks some depth, alongside a pitching staff that still needs some work. Max Fried remains the ace of the staff for another year with Gerrit Cole getting his legs under him following Tommy John, and while Cam Schlittler looks to rise near the top of the rotation there’s little love for either of the team’s fifth options in Luis Gil or Will Warren, and that’s without even getting into the fact that their Opening Day rotation will be even thinner.

MLB Trade Rumors | Nick Deeds: Former Yankee Mark Leiter Jr. has found a new home, signing a one-year deal with the Athletics for 2026. Leiter was non-tendered this offseason by New York after two middling-at-best years following his 2024 deadline acquisition, and the A’s are hoping that a $2.85 million gamble will lead to one of their bullpen spots being locked down should Leiter return to the form he displayed while on the Cubs from 2022-24.

CBS Sports | RotoWire: Finally, in minor roster news the Yankees signed Bradley Hanner to a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training. Hanner was in the Cleveland Guardians organization last year, pitching for their Triple-A Columbus team where he threw 49.1 innings and racked up 62 strikeouts, though he did have a 4.74 ERA. Now, he’ll get a lottery ticket to be one of the next bullpen finds from Brian Cashman and company.

ESPN: The folks at ESPN put together a roundtable to go over the Winter Meetings, discuss their biggest…

[65
363,99,163244
0":"post-344289","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-mlb","8":"tag-mlb","9":"tag-sports","10":"tag-yankees-news
["GET
