LUDINGTON \u2014 Spectrum has expanded its high-speed internet, mobile, TV and voice services to more than 200 additional homes and small businesses in Mason County, the company announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n
According to the July 24 news release, the newly served addresses are in previously unserved or underserved areas of Branch, Custer, Sheridan and Sherman townships.<\/p>\n
\u201cSpectrum is bringing gigabit broadband to unserved communities in Michigan and across America,\u201d said Christopher Spray, area vice president of field operations. \u201cOur investment is providing residents and small businesses superior connectivity at highly competitive prices, backed by a team of skilled local technicians and 100% U.S.-based customer service.\u201d<\/p>\n
The expansion is part of Spectrum\u2019s ongoing rural construction initiative, backed by more than $7 billion in private investment, to add more than 100,000 miles of fiber-optic infrastructure and extend broadband access to over 1.7 million new locations nationwide.<\/p>\n
Spectrum Internet offers starting speeds of 500 Mbps and up to 1 Gbps for residential and business customers, with no data caps, contracts or modem fees. The company is also rolling out network upgrades to eventually deliver multi-gigabit download and gigabit upload speeds across its 41-state service area.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany Michigan communities lack necessary infrastructure to serve residents with adequate internet access at home,\u201d said U.S. Rep. John Moolenaar. \u201cThis construction is a welcome addition to the community and will provide greater economic opportunities for residents.\u201d<\/p>\n
State Sen. Jon Bumstead called the project a benefit to residents of Michigan\u2019s 32nd District, saying it brings high-speed access \u201cright to their doorstep.\u201d State Rep. Curt VanderWall said the project is a \u201cwin\u201d for Mason County families and businesses and praised the combined efforts of the federal Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) and Spectrum\u2019s private investment.<\/p>\n
In addition to broadband, Spectrum now offers its mobile and TV services in the expanded service area. <\/p>\n
