\n\tLaKeith Stanfield<\/a> is set to play NBA legend Dennis Rodman<\/a> in Lionsgate\u2019s \u201c48 Hours in Vegas<\/a>,\u201d taking over the role after Jonathan Majors was dropped<\/a> from the film following his 2023 assault conviction.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe upcoming comedy is \u201cinspired by the untold story of Dennis Rodman\u2019s legendary trip to Las Vegas during the 1998 NBA Finals \u2014 just as the Rodman\u2019s Chicago Bulls are on the verge of completing their second consecutive threepeat championship in eight years,\u201d according to a release. <\/p>\n

\n\tRick Famuyiwa (\u201cThe Mandalorian,\u201d \u201cAhsoka\u201d) will direct \u201c48 Hours in Vegas\u201d and write the next draft of the screenplay, following an earlier draft by Jordan VanDina.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film will be produced by Lord Miller\u2019s Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood. Executive producers include Ari Lubet, Rodman and Lucy Kitada, with Nikki Baida serving as co-producer. Meredith Wieck and Pavan Kalidindi will oversee the project for Lionsgate, while Robert Melnik negotiated the deals on behalf of the studio.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m genuinely excited to help create an exhilarating, joyful work that both honors and thoughtfully examines the legacy of Rodman and fellow trailblazers,\u201d Stanfield said in a statement. \u201cThose who moved to the beat of their own drum, undeterred by the obstacles placed before them, then and now.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tStanfield received an Oscar nomination for his performance in 2021\u2019s \u201cJudas and the Black Messiah.\u201d He is known for roles in films including \u201cThe Book of Clarence,\u201d \u201cSorry to Bother You\u201d and \u201cGet Out,\u201d as well as the FX dramedy series \u201cAtlanta.\u201d He most recently appeared in \u201cRoofman\u201d and \u201cDie My Love,\u201d and will next be seen in \u201cI Love Boosters.\u201d Stanfield is represented by CAA, Stark Management and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDennis Rodman is more than a basketball player, more than a personality\u2014he\u2019s an entire cultural phenomenon. His bold style and physical presence, combined with an iconic persona, created a larger-than-life impact on and off the court,\u201d said Erin Westerman, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. \u201cThere\u2019ll never be another like him. LaKeith and the incredibly talented team on this film will bring the legend to life in this most extraordinarily unbelievable story.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMajors was previously attached to the Rodman film until he was convicted of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault stemming from a domestic dispute with his former partner. He was sentenced in April 2024 to one year of domestic violence counseling.<\/p>\n
