The View<\/a>\u00a0co-host\u00a0Joy Behar let slip that the show is taking\u00a0a ‘hiatus,’ a day after the\u00a0Trump<\/a>\u00a0administration called for its cancelation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Behar, 82, dropped the news on Thursday’s show, saying: ‘Before we go on hiatus, we only have one more show after this.’<\/p>\n

‘I’m allowed to say that, right?’ she appeared to say to someone off camera in a conspiratorial tone.<\/p>\n

‘Too late now,’ co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin joked.<\/p>\n

At the end of the program, co-host Whoopi Goldberg<\/a> said the The View would return for a new season in September.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

ABC did not respond to a request for comment.\u00a0A source said the hiatus is part of the daytime show’s annual summer break.<\/p>\n

The View typically takes a summer hiatus once a year. The hosts were away for a week for their yearly Fourth of July break, returning on July 7.<\/p>\n

A day before Behar’s announcement, the White House issued a statement calling her ‘an irrelevant loser’ after she claimed on The View that Trump was ‘jealous’ of former President Barack Obama.<\/p>\n

‘It’s no surprise that “The View’s” ratings hit an all-time low last year,’ a White House spokesperson said in response.\u00a0‘[Behar] should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

Behar’s comments on Trump stemmed from the president saying that Obama should be criminally prosecuted for\u00a0‘treason’ over what Trump has called the Russian ‘hoax’\u00a0to bring him down.<\/p>\n

‘First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on Jan. 6. Who was that again? That was not Obama,’ Behar said Wednesday’s show.<\/p>\n

‘The thing about him is he’s so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not: Trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green’s song “Let’s Stay Together” better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It’s driving him crazy.’<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Behar broached the backlash Trump has been receiving\u00a0from Republicans regarding the release of the Epstein files, saying\u00a0‘the tide is turning’ against Trump.<\/p>\n

‘Prior to this, they’ve been, you know, very much in acquiescence to the guy, but now that is changing and I feel positive about it. And optimistic,’ she said.<\/p>\n

Trump<\/a> was informed months ago by Attorney General Pam Bondi that his name appears ‘multiple times’ in the Epstein<\/a>\u00a0files, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, CBS announced it was cancelling\u00a0The Late Show with\u00a0Stephen Colbert over what the network claimed was financial reasons.<\/p>\n

The move was widely criticized as a strategy designed to appease Trump, who recently settled a defamation lawsuit suit he filed against CBS News and its parent company Paramount Global for $16 million.<\/p>\n

Trump has denied having any deep ties to Epstein, despite being repeatedly photographed with the late financier in the 1990s and 2000s<\/p>\n

The settlement was seen by several as means to secure approval from the Trump administration for Paramount’s pending merger with Skydance Media.<\/p>\n

In a report, Puck attributed The Late Show’s cancelation to the fact that it has been losing $40 million a year due to declining ad revenue.<\/p>\n

Colbert made clear he is not buying that narrative,\u00a0 framing himself as ‘a martyr’ caught up in a greater conflict.<\/p>\n
