As the clock ran out on an intense Army<\/a>\u2013Navy<\/a> game, there was one man who was watching who couldn\u2019t help but chime in. Former Michigan<\/a> staffer Connor Stalions.<\/p>\n

The two teams came together toward midfield, flags in hand for the winning Navy team, as they exchanged pleasantries. Things got a little heated, and the two teams had to be calmly separated to ensure nothing escalated.<\/p>\n

Stalions had a simple question after the game. One sure to rankle Ohio State<\/a> fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs planting the American flag at the 50 a felony in Baltimore, MD?\u201d Connor Stalions wrote on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The reference, of course, is to the fallout from the 2024 game between Michigan and Ohio State, a game the Wolverines won. After that win, a fight broke out at midfield as Buckeyes players tried to prevent Wolverines players from planting the flag at midfield. The game was played under the shroud of controversy, as Michigan was dealing with the fallout of the sign-stealing scandal thanks to Connor Stalions.<\/p>\n

Seen as a sign of disrespect, Ohio State wasn\u2019t about to let further insult be added to injury following the loss. Lawmakers even got involved after the game.<\/p>\n

Ohio Representative Josh Williams introduced the O.H.I.O Sportsmanship Act in relation to flag planting<\/a> and released a statement on the matter. He explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cI am proud to introduce the O.H.I.O Sportsmanship Act to make flag planting at midfield a felony in the state of Ohio,\u201d Williams said. \u201cBehavior that incites violent brawls and puts our law enforcement officers in danger has no place on the football field.\u201d<\/p>\n

The bill would \u201cprohibit planting a flagpole and flag in the center of the Ohio Stadium football field on the day of a college football game and to name this act the O.H.I.O. Sportsmanship Act.\u201d Notably, the bill specifically references Ohio Stadium. So, it did not include flag planting incidents at other college football stadiums in the state of Ohio.<\/p>\n

As a result of the Michigan-Ohio State dust-up in 2024, the Big Ten fined each side $100,000. This year\u2019s game concluded without incident.<\/p>\n

And it should be noted that, despite Connor Stalions\u2019 mention, the Army-Navy game had a relatively peaceful aftermath.
