One of the best college football coaches of all time, Urban Meyer, lent some sympathy to Sherrone Moore \u2014 or at least his family \u2014 in the wake of the former Michigan head coach\u2019s shocking firing<\/a> last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cLast night, I said a prayer for that family,\u2019\u2019 Meyer said<\/a> on \u201cThe Triple Option Podcast,\u201d speaking of Moore\u2019s wife and daughters.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, you\u2019ve got three little girls,\u2019\u2019 said Meyer, who won a national title at Ohio State a little over a decade ago. \u201cYou\u2019ve got a guy that was on top of the road a week ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Michigan football coach was fired for cause after the university confirmed he had an inappropriate relationship with a. staffer. AP<\/p>\n

That changed in stunning fashion, as Moore, a married father of three, went from leading the Wolverines to out of a job, fired in Ann Arbor for cause after the university confirmed he had an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.<\/a><\/p>\n

The situation only worsened when Moore was later arrested after he allegedly\u00a0broke into the home of the staff member, and during an argument, grabbed butter knives and threatened to kill himself. <\/p>\n

Sherrone Moore was charged on Friday with third-degree home invasion, a felony, as well as a pair of misdemeanors. AP<\/p>\n

Even Meyer, who\u00a0created some controversy of his own<\/a> during a brief, ill-fated tenure as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars \u2014 when he was seen on video in 2021 that showed him dancing suggestively with a woman who was not his wife<\/a> and was later fired before finishing his lone season in Jacksonville \u2014 was stunned by Moore\u2019s downfall.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re up 6-0 on the Buckeyes at home,\u201d Meyer said of Michigan\u2019s early lead against rival Ohio State on Nov. 29. \u201cAnd then, also, you wake up, and they\u2019re in this situation. Rivalries aside, this is all human element. Now, this is something that, from what you read, that\u2019s some serious stuff that went on. And just, all of a sudden, you start seeing the impact. Forget football.
