You might have to stop theory crafting<\/a> soon when it comes to Scarlett Johansson\u2019s mysterious part<\/a> in\u00a0The Batman Part II.<\/p>\n

According to ol\u2019 Jeff Sneider, the ex-Avenger has possibly joined DC\u2019s incoming sequel to play Gilda Gold, aka the wife of future Two-Face Harvey Dent. Sneider alleges a \u201cwell-placed agency source\u201d told him the film has three big new roles in Dent, Gilda, and Dent\u2019s abusive father Christopher. Actors in their 40s are to play the couple\u2014Johansson turned 41 back in November\u2014while a man in his 60s will portray the father.<\/p>\n

At time of writing, WB hasn\u2019t found (or announced) actors for the Dent men. The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> recently debunked rumors that Brad Pitt would play Christopher, and Schneider\u2019s clarified director Matt Reeves \u201creached out\u201d to Pitt, who\u2019s booked on another project.<\/p>\n

Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, Gilda debuted in 1942\u2019s Detective Comics #66\u00a0as Harvey\u2019s fianc\u00e9e. Despite his being scarred and becoming Two-Face, they remain in love with each other, and even married her when he vowed to turn his life around. In the pages of 1996\u2019s Batman: The Long Halloween #1, she\u2019s taken on her own villainous persona as Holiday, a serial killer targeting Gotham\u2019s crime families during holidays on the yearly calendar.<\/p>\n

Comics-wise, Gilda\u2019s been MIA since the New 52. But WB recently made an animated adaptation<\/a> of Halloween,\u00a0and the comic got a sequel<\/a> a few years ago. The first The Batman\u00a0took elements from Long Halloween,\u00a0so it\u2019d make sense for The Batman Part II\u00a0to follow suit.<\/p>\n

This is all currently speculation, so we\u2019ll wait to see what the deal is with\u00a0The Batman Part II and Johansson\u2019s role in it before it hits theaters on October 1, 2027.<\/p>\n
