\n\t\u201cTitanique<\/a>,\u201d a campy Off Broadway<\/a> hit, will open on Broadway in the spring. The show is a low-fi musical parody of James Cameron\u2019s disaster epic \u201cTitanic\u201d that uses C\u00e9line Dion\u2019s music to retell the movie\u2019s events from the pop diva\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTitanique\u201d will run for 16 weeks at the St. James Theatre, which recently housed the short-lived run<\/a> of Kristin Chenoweth and Stephen Schwartz\u2019s musical \u201cHouse of Versailles.\u201d Previews for \u201cTitanique\u201d will begin on March 26 ahead of opening night on April 12. Closing night is set for July 12.<\/p>\n

\n\tMarla Mindelle, the show\u2019s co-creator who appeared on Broadway in \u201cSister Act\u201d and \u201cRodgers & Hammerstein\u2019s Cinderella,\u201d will reprise her role as C\u00e9line Dion. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. <\/p>\n

\n\tCo-written by Tye Blue and Constantine Rousouli, \u201cTitanique\u201d seeks to find out \u201cwhat really happened to Jack and Rose on that fateful night\u201d while infusing Dion\u2019s greatest hits including \u201cMy Heart Will Go On,\u201d \u201cAll By Myself\u201d and \u201cTo Love You More.\u201d The New York Times review<\/a> praised the show\u2019s wacky humor, writing \u201c\u2018Titanique\u2019 comes into its own as it revs up into increasing absurdity and the actors try to out-ham one another.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTitanique\u201d opened Off Broadway in June 2022 and ran for three years \u2014 first at the underground Asylum Theatre before transferring to the Daryl Roth Theatre \u2014 before closing in June 2025. While it played in New York, the musical also toured in Sydney, London, Chicago and Paris. <\/p>\n

\n\tBlue will direct on Broadway. The creative team also includes choreographer Ellenore Scott (\u201cRagtime,\u201d \u201cFunny Girl\u201d); music supervisor, arranger, and orchestrator Nicholas James Connell; scenic designer Gabriel Hainer Evansohn and Grace Lauchbacher for Iron Bloom Creative Production; costume designer Alejo Vietti (\u201cBeautiful,\u201d \u201cSmash\u201d), lighting designer Paige Seber; sound designer Lawrence Schober; and hair and wig designer Charles G.LaPointe (\u201cDeath Becomes Her\u201d).
