Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> on Monday paid tribute to one of America\u2019s \u201cgreatest directors and patriots\u201d Rob Reiner<\/a> following the deaths of the Hollywood icon and his wife Michele.<\/p>\n

Following a weekend of tragedies that included the deadly mass shootings at Bondi Beach and Brown University, the late night host emphasized that the country needed \u201ccompassion and leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n

He declared that President Donald Trump<\/a> provided \u201cnone of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Instead, Kimmel added, the president offered a brief moment of respect for Australians and shared his condolences (followed by a \u201cthings can happen<\/a>\u201d) for students at the Ivy League institution.<\/p>\n

The comedian then read the entirety of Trump\u2019s heavily criticized post<\/a> that blamed Reiner \u2014 a staunch liberal and political activist \u2014 for his own death.<\/p>\n

Reiner\u2019s 32-year-old son, Nick, was booked for murder<\/a> on Monday in the stabbing deaths of his parents.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust when you think he can\u2019t go any lower, he somehow finds a way to do that,\u201d said Kimmel of Trump.<\/p>\n

He chalked up the president\u2019s behavior to \u201cthis rush to pin the tail on the donkey\u201d in pursuit of \u201cthe Trump-friendly narrative.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel called out Trump\u2019s \u201chateful and vile\u201d message before reacting to a clip of the president doubling down on his attacks toward the<\/a> director.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat corroded brain is in charge of our lives. If you voted for that, it\u2019s OK to reconsider. It\u2019s perfectly fine,\u201d Kimmel began.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I have to say, I know from my personal interactions with Rob Reiner that he would want us to keep pointing out the loathsome atrocities that continue to ooze out of this sick and irresponsible man\u2019s mouth. And so we\u2019re going to do that over and over again until the rest of us wake up.\u201d<\/p>\n
