Sharing our planet with billions of animals can be a beautiful experience, but, as one Alberta resident recently learned, it can have its fair share of strange moments, too. On December 8, @ashtheplantlover captured the moment two Canada lynx were stuck in the most bizarre standoff, and they were lucky enough to get it on film.<\/p>\n
The majestic creatures look beautiful in their winter wonderland habitat, but the noises they’re making sound more like a sound effect than an animal. But sure enough, their cries are all too real!<\/p>\n
Wow\u2014just listen to them! It’s hard to believe that such a beautiful wild cat<\/a> could make such an odd noise, but these two aren’t holding anything back. Still, I wonder what they’re saying!<\/p>\n “Clearly an empty food bowl!” @picklesncheese commented. “I know that sound anywhere!” LOL! They joked, “If you’re cold, they’re cold. Let them inside.” I wish! The person behind the camera did the right thing by keeping a distance, but they were still close enough to hear this bizarre screaming conversation.<\/p>\n Why Do Lynx Scream?<\/p>\n Lynx screams like these are strange to hear, but they actually serve an important purpose. As National Geographic experts explain, this is a common way<\/a> for two lynx, especially males, to communicate.<\/p>\n In fact, this is what a territorial dispute between two lynx looks and sounds like. Because lynx could seriously injure one another with their massive teeth and claws, they settle disputes with this odd-sounding ‘cawing’ instead of a physical fight.<\/p>\n I wonder who won this one!
