Yungblud<\/a> appeared on Howard Stern<\/a>\u2018s SiriusXM show on Monday, and refuted the radio host\u2019s feeling that \u201crock is dead\u201d by listing off a number of bands that are carrying the music genre\u2019s proverbial torch at the moment.<\/p>\n

In one segment from the interview, Stern tells Yungblud, \u201cI\u2019ve been feeling lately like rock is dead, you know, and it makes me sad because I love rock \u2018n\u2019 roll music.\u201d His sentiment echoed that of KISS\u2019 Gene Simmons, who\u2019s been running around spewing out the words \u201crock is dead\u201d<\/a> for a decade now.<\/p>\n

Yungblud countered Stern by saying, \u201cRock music is so brilliant in it gets its flowers in hindsight because it\u2019s such a sacred genre. Every dad says, \u2018I don\u2019t like that band, it sounds like (a band that they knew as a kid).’\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cRock music is coming back at the minute. People always put so much pressure on one person bringing it back: \u2018Who\u2019s gonna save rock \u2018n\u2019 roll?\u2019 That\u2019s a load of bullshit.\u201d<\/p>\n

The UK singer then named a bunch of bands in various rock subgenres who are thriving right now: \u201cIn hardcore, you\u2019ve got Knocked Loose and Turnstile; and punk you\u2019ve got Amyl and the Sniffers and Lambrini Girls; and indie you\u2019ve got Fontaines [D.C.] and Geese and Wunderhorse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yungblud sure seems to have his finger on the pulse of rock music, as Turnstile are Consequence\u2019s 2025 Band of the Year<\/a>; Lambrini Girls are our 2025 Rookie of the Year<\/a>; and Geese\u2019s \u201cAu Pays du Cocaine\u201d is No. 1 on our list of the 200 Best Songs of 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Yungblud is doing pretty well himself these days. His 2026 North American tour<\/a>, which kicks off in May, sold out in one minute<\/a>, although fans can still pick up tickets here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Things are looking up for Howard Stern, as well, after he just re-upped his SiriusXM show<\/a> for another three years.<\/p>\n
