A boutique fitness studio is gearing up to replace a former yoga center in Clarendon.<\/p>\n

Megaformer<\/a> plans to open this winter at 1016 N. Garfield Street, in the vacant retail bay next to Pure Barre<\/a>. The space was formerly held by the yoga studio Sukha Center, which closed last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Megaformer uses the Lagree method<\/p>\n

The fitness studio relies on spring machines to offer low-impact full-body workouts, with movements that engage the body\u2019s slow-twitch muscle fibers.
\nIt follows Lagree<\/a>, a patented workout method that uses bodybuilding principles to improve strength and endurance.
\nClasses take 50 minutes and are sold in packs, while private training sessions start at $150. The studio plans to announce opening membership details \u201csoon.\u201d<\/p>\n

It will be Megaformer\u2019s first Virginia location<\/p>\n

The development marks another recent turnover in Clarendon\u2019s fitness scene, after Club Pilates confirmed plans<\/a> to open this summer where Urban Kempo shuttered.
\nMegaformer currently has four California locations and a studio in Miami Beach, Fla. It is also expanding to Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n

Sukha co-founder leads online classes<\/p>\n

Sukha co-founder Damion Moss told ARLnow last year<\/a> that high rent and a dissolved business partnership influenced his Clarendon departure. At the time, he planned to relocate and rebrand as \u201cGood Space.\u201d
\nWhile those plans have yet to materialize, Moss recently began hosting Midweek Movement Club<\/a>, a new virtual exercise program.
\nThe 45-minute program takes place at 8 p.m. each Wednesday. First sessions are free and cost $25 thereafter.<\/p>\n
