Getty Images <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-franchises \">The Sun are \u201cpreparing to play two regular-season games at PeoplesBank Arena\u201d in Hartford in 2026 even as the WNBA team\u2019s\u202fowner, the Mohegan Tribe, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/08\/20\/wnbas-hesitancy-with-sun-sale-reflects-state-of-womens-basketball\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/08\/20\/wnbas-hesitancy-with-sun-sale-reflects-state-of-womens-basketball\/\">moves toward a sale<\/a> of the franchise that will \u201cmost likely see it exit the state for Houston or another city in 2027,\u201d according to Dan Haar of the NEW HAVEN REGISTER. It is unclear which dates the Sun would play at the\u202fPeoplesBank Arena, or against which teams. Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont is \u201ccheering on the possibility of games\u201d against the Wings, the team of former UConn G Paige Bueckers; or the Fever with G Caitlin Clark. The team has \u201ccommitted to playing the upcoming season at\u202fMohegan Sun.\u201d Lamont has said repeatedly that it is an \u201cuphill battle\u201d to keep the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/08\/05\/connecticut-gov-ned-lamont-pledges-local-support-to-keep-sun-in-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/08\/05\/connecticut-gov-ned-lamont-pledges-local-support-to-keep-sun-in-state\/\">team in the state<\/a> beyond that.
