Late-night hosts reacted to White House chief of staff Susie Wiles\u2019s revealing interview<\/a> with Vanity Fair<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Stephen Colbert<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there\u2019s one thing Donald Trump<\/a> wants, it\u2019s a hamburger,\u201d said Stephen Colbert<\/a> on Tuesday\u2019s Late Show. \u201cIf there\u2019s a second thing, though, it would be to make you think that you\u2019re crazy. That\u2019s why periodically, I like to remind all of you that you\u2019re not crazy. What\u2019s happening is crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

And in the pages of Vanity Fair, \u201cthey confirmed it,\u201d via 11 on-the-record interviews with Trump\u2019s chief of staff Susie Wiles.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd she dished, bish,\u201d Colbert quipped of the unusually candid look into the White House. Among other things, Wiles told the magazine that though her boss doesn\u2019t drink, he has \u201can alcoholic\u2019s personality\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s amazing that he doesn\u2019t drink, because he sure sounds like it,\u201d Colbert laughed.<\/p>\n

Over the past year, \u201cwe have watched Trump weaponize the justice department in unprecedented ways to go after his political enemies like James Comey and Letitia James,\u201d he continued. But Wiles assured the magazine that Trump is \u201cnot constantly thinking about retribution\u201d. She also said: \u201cIn some cases, it may look like retribution. And there may be an element of that from time to time. Who would blame him? Not me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOK, then, I\u2019ll do it,\u201d said Colbert. \u201cDonald Trump, I blame you!\u201d<\/p>\n

Wiles also defended Trump\u2019s friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, because they were \u201cyoung, you know, sort of young, single, whatever \u2013 I know it\u2019s a pass\u00e9 word but sort of young, single playboys together\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, young, single, sometimes married playboys in their 40s and 50s,\u201d Colbert joked. \u201cCouple of carefree rapscallions partying with teenage girls and splitting a box of Cologuard. You know \u2013 youth!\u201d<\/p>\n

The magazine reported that as part of her job, Wiles kept a free-standing video monitor next to the fireplace in her West Wing office with a live feed of Trump\u2019s social media posts. \u201cSo there\u2019s fire and a constant stream of Trump\u2019s social media posts?\u201d Colbert mused. \u201cAre you sure that\u2019s your office? Because it sounds like hell to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jimmy Kimmel<\/p>\n

On Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> Live!, the host celebrated \u201can early gift from the White House\u201d with a \u201cdoozy\u201d of an interview from Susie Wiles. \u201cShe\u2019s said to be the most normal member of the administration,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cShe typically stays out of the limelight. They call her the \u2018Ice Maiden\u2019. But things got hot and melted down today after she spilled the beans on her unbalanced boss and his league of lowlifes at the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n

Over the course of 11 interviews, Wiles said, among other things, that she tried unsuccessfully to get Trump to stop trying to exact revenge on his political enemies; that indictments such as that of New York attorney general Letitia James were acts of retribution; that there was no evidence that Bill Clinton went to Epstein\u2019s island; that she tried to talk Trump out of pardoning rioters from January 6; that Elon Musk is an \u201cavowed ketamine user\u201d and an \u201codd, odd duck\u201d; and that JD Vance has been a \u201cconspiracy theorist\u201d for a decade.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Wiles \u201cattempted to smooth things over on Twitter with a post that was clearly aimed at an audience of one\u201d, said Kimmel. In a lengthy post, Wiles called the article a \u201cdisingenuously framed hit piece\u201d in which \u201csignificant context was disregarded and much of what I, and others, said about the team and the president was left out of the story\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s right, like when she said that the president has the personality of an alcoholic, she meant a fun alcoholic, like Barney from the Simpsons, you know?\u201d Kimmel laughed.<\/p>\n

Seth Meyers<\/p>\n

And on Late Night, Seth Meyers<\/a> touched on news that Trump is reportedly considering demolishing four federal buildings \u2013 \u201cunless someone can explain to him why we even need the House of Representatives\u201d, he joked.<\/p>\n

Last week, Trump posted a headline from the Washington Examiner calling him the \u201cmost important president in maybe 100 years\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cOK, but important doesn\u2019t mean good,\u201d said Meyers. \u201cLike for example, it\u2019s important to get that weird mole checked out.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Trump posted a photo on Truth Social promoting his pay-to-play \u201cgold card\u201d immigration program for wealthy foreigners, with the caption: \u201cget your Trump card today!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere? At a Spencer\u2019s Gifts?\u201d Meyers wondered. \u201cThat doesn\u2019t look like a visa, that looks like how you\u2019d buy drinks at a Maga-themed barmitzvah.\u201d<\/p>\n
