\n\tThe original Golden Bachelor<\/a> doesn\u2019t think Mel Owens should have any age maximums for the pool of women in his cast.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a recent podcast appearance, Owens, 66, revealed that producers asked him what his \u201cpreferences\u201d were during casting, to which he responded, \u201cI just said, \u201945 to 60,\u2019 just being honest.\u201d He shared an additional story where he remembered telling producers, \u2018\u201cIf they\u2019re 60 or over, I\u2019m cutting them<\/a>.\u2019 \u2026 This is not The Silver Bachelor, this is The Golden Bachelor<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn response to Owens\u2019 claims, the first Golden Bachelor star, Gerry Turner<\/a>, told Fox News<\/a> that \u201cit would be unfortunate\u201d if he abides by the age limit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI really think he will have a change of heart in this,\u201d he added. \u201cI think he will see the grace and charm of women who are over 60 and the confidence they carry, and I think he\u2019ll have a change of heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe group of women that Turner dated during his time on The Bachelor<\/a> franchise ranged from 60 to 75, with him noting that each of the people on his season were \u201call a gift.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEach and every one of them [brought] some unique characteristics to the show, unique characteristics to life,\u201d Turner said. \u201cThe age thing\u2026 ignore the number, deal with the person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing the inaugural Golden Bachelor season, ABC expanded the franchise by naming Joan Vassos the first Golden Bachelorette<\/a>. Now, with Owens being named the second man to lead the new Golden franchise, singles who were featured on both shows were invited<\/a> to take part in Bachelor in Paradise for the first time ever this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe new Bachelor<\/a> and BIP showrunner\/executive producer Scott Teti told The Hollywood Reporter there were \u201ca lot of discussions between the network and myself\u201d when the decision was made to bring the Goldens down to Costa Rica to find love.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s definitely different.
