As long as Klay Thompson is in the NBA, he\u2019ll always be linked to his first NBA home, the Golden State Warriors<\/a>, in trade rumors.<\/p>\n

After all, the 6-foot-5 Dallas Mavericks<\/a> guard was an integral part of the Warriors\u2019 entertaining run in the mid to late 2010s, as his deadeye three-point shooting alongside Stephen Curry\u2019s was too much for the league to handle at the time.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Warriors received a major trade update<\/a> on Thompson involving the franchise\u2019s superhuman point guard, Stephen Curry.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose around Thompson say they believe it could eventually happen because \u2018there\u2019s no one that carries more weight with Klay than Steph,\u201d ESPN\u2019s Anthony Slater reported. \u201cBut Curry would have to push for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s clear that a Thompson-Warriors trade isn\u2019t in the works yet, the Dubs should feel encouraged by the fact that it\u2019s been deemed a realistic possibility.<\/p>\n

Thompson, who\u2019s averaging 11.1 points on 37.0% field goal shooting and 36.1% three-point shooting, hasn\u2019t been his usual reliable three-point shooting self with Dallas this season. Still, the Washington product has all of the tools to rekindle the magic he experienced in the Bay and prove he\u2019s far from washed-up.<\/p>\n

What better way to do that than re-joining Curry on the Warriors this year? The Dubs have the assets to help a trade materialize, but ultimately, it\u2019ll be up to them to determine if a transaction featuring Thompson would be worthwhile.<\/p>\n
