In Thank You by Damien Hoar de Galvan, plywood pieces are layered upon each other, forming custom cavities for books. Structures of meaning and technique, gathered throughout the artist\u2019s career, breathe life into the mundane. A mind personified, books are usually kept neatly in a row on a bookshelf. A rich blend of culture, humor, and technicality, his pieces shed light on the human experience \u2013 and refract it as well. The placement and color of the lights drastically affects the overall look, beholden to the multitude of surrounding shards. DEVIATION illuminates how much we influence each other, asking, \u201cIs the world really as dark as we perceive it to be right now?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/design-milk.com\/take-5-refractions-in-glass-illusions-in-fiber-bench-for-books\/take5-aria-paper-lamp-01-dan-mcmahon-5\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-594487 nofollow noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-594487 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Take5-Aria-Paper-Lamp-01-Dan-McMahon-5-810x539.jpg\" alt=\"A floor lamp with a textured, crumpled white paper shade and a pull cord stands beside dark, pleated curtains, casting soft light.\" width=\"810\" height=\"539\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Courtesy of Dan McMahon.<\/p>\n<p>This lamp is born out of a process quite rare in the lighting industry, and indeed in most products on the market today \u2013 sprayed paper pulp. Its extremely thin wall thickness allows it to be a warm diffuser for light, with the fibers of the paper allowed to shine through. McMahon\u2019s latest venture in paper spraying, aptly named <a href=\"https:\/\/danmcmahon.work\/objects#paper-lamp-02\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Paper Lamp 02<\/a>, features flowers and botanicals nestled within the layers, allowing natural dye and resins to bleed into the paper.
