{"id":35697,"date":"2025-07-25T06:44:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T06:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/35697\/"},"modified":"2025-07-25T06:44:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T06:44:12","slug":"accused-gunman-was-cited-by-lorain-officer-killed-in-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/35697\/","title":{"rendered":"Accused gunman was cited by Lorain officer killed in attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LORAIN, Ohio \u2014 The gunman accused of <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news5cleveland.com\/news\/local-news\/2-police-officers-shot-in-lorain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ambushing three Lorain police officers<\/a> on Wednesday afternoon had previously been cited by one of the officers following a 2022 crash.<\/p>\n<p>According to the crash report obtained by News 5 Investigators, Officer Phillip Wagner cited Michael Parker for failure to stop after an accident and for driving left of center.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators said Parker crashed into a man on a motorcycle, knocking him from the bike as the two drove along Broadway Avenue on October 23, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The police report said the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Court records showed Parker pleaded no contest, and the failure to stop charge was dismissed.<\/p>\n<p>Records from Lorain Municipal Court showed Parker paid a $150 fine and court costs in the case.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators have not revealed a motive for Wednesday\u2019s attack in which Parker is accused of killing Wagner and wounding Lorain Police Officers Peter Gale and Brent Payne.<\/p>\n<p>Police said officers returned fire, and the 28-year old Parker died during the exchange.
