BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – \u2014 Texas A&M sophomore Aiden Ross was crowned winner of The Voice Season 28 Tuesday night, making former One Direction singer Niall Horan an undefeated coach.<\/p>\n
The College Station native said the experience has been \u201csurreal\u201d since his blind audition.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has all just been such a surreal experience,\u201d Ross said from Los Angeles. \u201cSomething that I had always dreamed of and always wanted, but never truly knew or maybe truly believed that I would have.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ross performed Monday night before results were announced Tuesday. He said the wait between performance and results was stressful but meaningful.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy the time it was just me and Ralph, my runner up, we were getting ready for them to announce who the winner was,\u201d Ross said. \u201cReality TV comes in and there\u2019s a commercial break and me and Ralph just fall to our knees.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ross said he and runner-up Ralph Edward used the commercial break to support each other before the final announcement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had time to ground each other and we were like, no matter who wins, no matter what happens, it\u2019s been such an incredible experience,\u201d Ross said.<\/p>\n
When his name was announced as winner, Ross said he thought back to watching the show\u2019s first season as a child.<\/p>\n
\u201cI instantly just shot back to me being six years old, watching the first season of the show with my family in the living room, turning my chair, pushing my little button, pretending like I was a coach at the blind auditions,\u201d Ross said. \u201cIt was just the most full circle moment I\u2019ve really ever had in my entire life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ross said he plans to spend the holidays with family and has a song in the works that will be released soon.<\/p>\n
He thanked his supporters in Aggieland for their votes throughout the competition.<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you, Aggies, so much for winning The Voice for me,\u201d Ross said. \u201cIt was y\u2019all\u2019s votes that got me to where I am now and I\u2019m forever in debt to the Aggie community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ross said the Brazos Valley and Aggie network has embraced and supported his music career.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing someone who grew up in College Station, being an Aggie was in my blood,\u201d Ross said. \u201cGoing to school there and continuing to do music on the side, I\u2019ve been met with nothing but love and support from this Aggie network.\u201d<\/p>\n
