Joy Behar and her co-host Sunny Hostin became a hot topic at ABC. <\/p>\n
The deal-loving millionaire duo arrived as Roberts\u2019 team was still setting up and \u201crifled through, took the best of the best, then said, \u2018someone will be in touch to take care of the bill,’\u201d an insider alleged to Page Six.<\/p>\n
Not only that, but \u201chours later, a producer called and asked, \u2018how much do we owe and what\u2019s our discount?!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Roberts hosts the charity sale every year to \u201cpurge my closet,\u201d she explained in a video shared on Instagram. <\/p>\n
The goal is to get rid of \u201cthings that no longer bring me joy \u2014 from clothing, to shoes, to maybe a tie from my husband\u2019s closet,\u201d she continued. (Yes, some of Al Roker\u2019s ties were also for sale).<\/p>\n

Junior staffers, who certainly aren\u2019t raking in Hostin and Behar\u2019s kind of dough, look forward to the opportunity yearly, we\u2019re told. <\/p>\n
Hostin and Behar\u2019s first dibs, pay later approach, \u201cwas such a bad look,\u201d the insider said.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople were livid that these high-profile, well-paid stars were rifling through the goods before everyone else\u2026 and the sense of entitlement they exhibited by not paying. And then having someone ask for a discount!\u201d the insider said.<\/p>\n

The ladies caught wind of the office chatter, and explained the situation on their \u201cBehind the Table,\u201d podcast with \u201cThe View\u201d executive producer Brian Teta.<\/p>\n
Hostin said she was out of the loop about the sale, until she heard about it through her glam squad. She then shared the details with her \u201csample sale buddy Joy,\u201d after she texted Roberts, who told her she could come at 9 a.m., three hours before the sale started.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn our defense, we bought a few things, but not as much as Lara Spencer,\u201d Hostin said of the flea market-loving \u201cGood Morning America\u201d anchor.<\/p>\n
Another insider familiar with the situation told us the ladies had to arrive early because they were taping two shows that day. They further claimed, the ladies weren\u2019t the only arrivals, and \u201cJoy did not ask for a discount. She doesn\u2019t use Venmo. She came back and handed money directly to Deborah.\u201d<\/p>\n

Behar described the uproar as \u201ccomplete and fake news\u201d on their \u201cBehind the Table\u201d podcast. The View \/ YouTube<\/p>\n
They added that tag sales are \u201cone of the things [Behar and Hostin] do, as friends outside of the show, and they loved giving the money to charity.\u201d<\/p>\n
Behar called the watercooler conversations \u201ccomplete and fake news\u201d on the podcast, explaining, she only purchased four items, including Chanel earrings as a gift for a staffer. <\/p>\n
Hostin added that she only bought five items.<\/p>\n
Roberts donates the money from the sale to organizations like Citymeals On Wheels. Deborah Roberts\/Instagram<\/p>\n
Roberts hosted the sale at ABC\u2019s offices and charged her colleagues for the items, \u201cbecause I can use that money to help organizations who are doing good things like Citymeals on Wheels helping elderly fight hunger and other good organizations,\u201d she said in her video post.<\/p>\n
Roberts told Page Six of the supposed dust-up: \u201cThey were excited for a shopping moment and as we all were. Joy showed up promptly with cash the next day and Sunny Venmoed like everyone else and was quite generous. It\u2019s all for a good cause to support food insecurity charities and to help me clear out my closet.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"F-View!
