What were the chances that Patricia Woodcock would find a new place to live which matched all the \u201csame vibes\u201d of her Cazenovia home?<\/p>\n
Pretty good, actually.<\/p>\n
She raised five kids with her eye doctor husband in Cazenovia, inside a renovated carriage house that her son, Jonathan, called \u201ca disaster\u201d when the family first moved there.<\/p>\n
\u201cDad renovated it while we lived inside,\u201d he remembered. \u201cAll our stuff was stored in an 18-wheel tractor trailer on the front lawn.\u201d<\/p>\n
But when it was finished, it was home. It was where her family was and where countless Sunday dinners were served and memories were made. <\/p>\n
\u201cFamily events, walkable grounds, and a tennis court,\u201d Jonathan remembered. The family often put up big tents over the tennis court for big family celebrations.<\/p>\n

Fayetteville Colonial has its own tennis court<\/p>\n
By 2018, her children had grown up and moved west into Onondaga County, to the Fayetteville and Skaneateles area. She decided to join them to be near to her grandchildren.<\/p>\n
Her three-bedroom house at 5221 Leverett Lane in Fayetteville provided all those same feelings as her old home.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was just perfect for her,\u201d Jonathan said. \u201cIt was a perfect family house.\u201d<\/p>\n
And it even had a Wegmans close by.<\/p>\n
Built in 1931 by famed local architect Charles Umbrecht, a German immigrant whose New England-style Colonials, The Post-Standard said in 1983, have become collector\u2019s items. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt is not a cookie cutter. This home has unique angles,\u201d Jonathan said. It was built with \u201cthought and style.\u201d<\/p>\n
Set on an almost one-acre wooded lot, the house has a timeless elegance, including gleaming moldings, a grand staircase, and plenty of sunlight-filled space for her to fill with Stickley furniture, vintage d\u00e9cor and wallpaper.<\/p>\n
\u201cMom loves to decorate,\u201d Jonathan said. \u201cSome of her furniture was bought 40 to 50 years ago and still looks brand new. She has a style.\u201d<\/p>\n
With over 2,600 square feet of living space, Patricia had a lot of room to fill.<\/p>\n
Guests arrive at the foyer where the staircase is. You can look straight through to the backyard.<\/p>\n
The stairs are wide and gradual, and she never had any trouble climbing them.<\/p>\n
The formal living room has a beautiful wood-burning fireplace with a built-in storage space for wood. The room is used for conversation with friends and family.<\/p>\n
A cozy wood-paneled den is where Patricia spent much of her time. It has a gas fireplace and a hidden panel leading into a half bathroom.<\/p>\n
She loved the home\u2019s three fireplaces.<\/p>\n
\u201cMom loves to be warm,\u201d Jonathan said.<\/p>\n
In the warmer weather, she enjoyed watching her dogs and grandchildren from a covered porch.<\/p>\n
Homemade pasta, red sauce, and meatballs were staples for Sunday dinner she cooked at the gourmet kitchen. <\/p>\n
It features abundant white cabinetry, granite counters, and high-end appliances. Her grandkids love the wooden trap door in the island which drops refuse into a hidden trash can.<\/p>\n
Off the kitchen, there is a pantry area and laundry room. The space has room for a beverage fridge and, what Jonathan calls, \u201cthe world\u2019s smallest bathroom.\u201d<\/p>\n
The formal dining room can accommodate a big table for large dinners.<\/p>\n
There are three good-sized bedrooms on the second floor. Her primary suite has a walk-in closet and a spa-like bath. It has a bathtub with jets. <\/p>\n
The lower level was \u201cgrandkid central.\u201d <\/p>\n
Downstairs they could make all the noise that they wanted while running around the finished space. There is a family room with an office nook and another gas fireplace. The lower level has a workshop too.<\/p>\n
Tennis is a Woodcock family tradition, and the backyard tennis court has only added to it. Two of Patricia\u2019s grandkids went to the state finals this year after honing their skills on their grandmother\u2019s court.<\/p>\n
(Jonathan says, though, that he is the family\u2019s best player.)<\/p>\n
\u201cCentral to everything,\u201d the property has a fenced-in area for dogs, lush, well-maintained landscaping and a two-car garage.<\/p>\n
Patricia Woodcock looks forward to \u201ccontinuing her family traditions\u201d in a new house being built in Skaneateles.<\/p>\n
