{"id":358252,"date":"2025-12-19T15:25:21","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T15:25:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/358252\/"},"modified":"2025-12-19T15:25:21","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T15:25:21","slug":"takedas-ai-crafted-psoriasis-pill-succeeds-in-late-stage-studies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/358252\/","title":{"rendered":"Takeda&#8217;s AI-crafted psoriasis pill succeeds in late-stage studies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-7hmkaz\">Dec 18 (Reuters) &#8211; Japan&#8217;s Takeda Pharmaceutical said on Thursday its experimental pill for a type of skin disease, developed using \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/ai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:artificial intelligence;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a>, succeeded in two late-stage studies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-7hmkaz\">More than half \u200cthe plaque psoriasis patients across the studies showed clear or almost clear skin after \u200c16 weeks of treatment with the once-daily drug, zasocitinib, the company said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-7hmkaz\">Takeda plans to file marketing applications with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and other regulatory authorities in 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-7hmkaz\">If approved, zasocitinib would join a \u2060crowded plaque psoriasis market \u200cfeaturing well-established oral rivals like Bristol Myers&#8217; Sotyktu and Amgen&#8217;s Otezla, plus injectables including Johnson &amp; Johnson&#8217;s Tremfya, AbbVie&#8217;s \u200dSkyrizi, and Novartis&#8217; Cosentyx.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-7hmkaz\">Takeda&#8217;s pill offers a convenient daily pill alternative alongside Sotyktu and Otezla in a market dominated by injectable drugs for treating plaque psoriasis, \u200bin which red, scaly patches occur on the skin due \u200cto an overactive immune system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-7hmkaz\">The company is banking on the blockbuster potential of zasocitinib to help fill a revenue gap it faces after its inflammatory bowel disease drug Entyvio loses key patents at the end of the decade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-7hmkaz\">Takeda in January had said it expects zasocitinib, \u2060if approved, to generate peak annual sales \u200bin the range of $3 billion to $6 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-7hmkaz\">The \u200bdrugmaker acquired zasocitinib from drug developer Nimbus Therapeutics in 2022 in a deal worth up to $6 billion.
