Sarah Barshop<\/a> reported the wide receiver said during a Tuesday livestream that “the refs are the worst” and make calls so they can get television time.<\/p>\nIt didn’t end there, as he took to social media in the immediate aftermath of Thursday’s 38-37 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and posted another critical message toward the officials:<\/p>\n
Nacua deleted the tweet shortly after it was posted.<\/p>\n
“It was just a lack of awareness and just in some frustration,” Nacua said, per Barshop. “I know there were moments where I feel like, man, you watch the other games and you think of the calls that some guys get and you wish you could get some of those, but that’s just how football has played, and I’ll do my job in order to work my technique to make sure that there’s not an issue with the call.”<\/p>\n
He also said he sent the tweet Thursday in “a moment of frustration after a tough, intense game like that.”<\/p>\n
While it was a thrilling back-and-forth game that saw the Seahawks force overtime after falling behind 30-14 in the fourth quarter, there didn’t seem to be much officiating controversy.<\/p>\n
One of the most notable moments came on Seattle’s game-tying two-point conversion in the fourth quarter. It was initially ruled that Sam Darnold threw an incomplete pass that was batted down at the line of scrimmage, but replay review determined it was a backward pass and fumble that the Seahawks recovered in the end zone.<\/p>\n
It seemed to be the correct call:<\/p>\n
The Rams actually bounced back from their blown lead when they scored first in overtime on a 41-yard strike from Matthew Stafford to Nacua. But Seattle answered right back with a touchdown pass from Darnold to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.<\/p>\n
Rather than settle for a tie, the Seahawks went for the two-point conversion and the win. They succeeded and moved into first place in the NFC West with the victory.<\/p>\n
